Two constables, two security personnel and one ASI will guard each department. Up to 450 policemen will be present in the PU campus. There will be police barricading at important places in the campus. Gate number one will remain closed from 12 noon to 4:30 pm today. AC Joshi Library will remain closed from 7 am to 12 noon.

Nine contest for the post of president

In PU, there is a contest between nine candidates for the post of president, five for vice president, four for secretary and six for joint secretary. Among them, there are four women candidates, out of which three have filed nomination for the post of president and one for the post of vice president. Out of these, independent candidate Shivani, who is contesting for the post of vice president, has given her support to Karandeep Singh of the student organization Sath.

Voting took place at 182 polling booths

Ballot boxes have been installed in 62 departments of Punjab University and 182 polling booths are ready for voting. Students have to enter their departments by 9:30 am to vote, after which the voting process will continue till 10:30 am.

PU Student Council Election: Students will choose leaders today, 56 thousand students will decide the fate of 139 candidates

Voting for the student council elections will be held on Thursday in 10 colleges of the city including Sector-14 Punjab University (PU) of Chandigarh. 56252 students will decide the victory or defeat of 139 candidates contesting the elections. The preparations for the elections have been completed by the PU management and Chandigarh Police. To maintain law and order, more than 300 policemen conducted a flag march in the university campus on Wednesday evening.
