This will be the first time that the US President will host the Quad summit in his hometown Wilmington. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and his Japanese counterpart Fumio Kishida will also attend it. It was India's turn to host the Quad summit this year, but after America's request, India will now host the summit next year.

Why is India not hosting this year?
Mira Rapp Hooper, Senior Director for East Asia and Oceania at the National Security Council, said, 'We hope that next year the Quad summit will be held in India. When we were planning this year's Quad summit, India was to host it, but when we looked at the schedules of these four leaders, it became even more clear to us that the best way to ensure that they meet and have time for these discussions is to be in the US this weekend. So Prime Minister Modi agreed with us to change the hosting year and we hope that next year all four leaders of the Quad will meet in India.
He said, 'When it comes to the role expected of India, we expect and actually see India as a leader within the Quad. The way we think about India's role is best summed up in our Indo-Pacific strategy, where we say that the US looks for India, which is increasingly becoming a leader in the region and increasingly a partner with the US. The Quad has been an ideal venue through which we can work together. It allows us to identify opportunities and priorities that matter not only to the US or its traditional allies such as Australia and Japan, but which are really important to India.
Know about Quad
Actually, in 2004, there was a tsunami in the Indian Ocean. Its coastal countries were greatly affected. Then India, America, Australia and Japan together helped the tsunami-affected countries. After this, in 2007, the then Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe, formed the Quad i.e. The Quadrilateral Security Dialogue. The Quad is a group of four countries America, Japan, Australia and India. Quad meetings were held every year between 2007 and 2010, but stopped after that. It is said that then China put a lot of pressure on Australia, after which it started distancing itself from the Quad. However, in 2017 again the heads of state of the four countries together decided to strengthen the Quad.
On this US visit, PM Modi will attend the 'Quad Leaders Summit' in Wilmington, Delaware on September 21. PM Modi will also address the Indian community in New York on September 22. Prime Minister Modi will address the 'Summit of the Future' on September 23 at the United Nations General Assembly in New York. In this, leaders of different countries will come on one platform and create a new international consensus on how to make the present better and the future secure. The Prime Minister will hold bilateral meetings with many world leaders and discuss issues of mutual interest. In New York, PM Modi will also interact with the Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of leading American companies to promote comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
