Prime Minister Narendra Modi has left for America on a three-day visit. Talking about the Prime Minister's visit, India's Ambassador to America and former Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra shared an anecdote related to the Prime Minister. Vinay Kwatra told how PM Modi had impressed former US President Barack Obama with his honesty and simplicity.

Vinay Kwatra said that 'there is an honesty in the character of Prime Minister Modi and it is clearly reflected in his words'. Vinay Kwatra recalled an incident and said that 'Prime Minister Modi had come to America on a tour and at that time the President of America was Barack Obama…so when the formal talks between the two leaders ended, both the leaders were going to the Martin Luther King memorial located at a distance of about two kilometers from the venue of the talks. Both the leaders were riding in Barack Obama's limousine car.'
Vinay Kwatra said that 'he was also present in the car as the Prime Minister's translator. During this, Barack Obama talked to Prime Minister Modi about his family and asked where his mother lives? On this, the Prime Minister laughingly said that if I tell you, you might not believe it, but it is true that my mother lives in a room of the same size as your car's area.' Vinay Kwatra said that 'Barack Obama was surprised to hear PM Modi's answer because he felt a truth in PM Modi's answer. Also, Barack Obama realized that the Prime Minister has struggled a lot in his life.' Vinay Kwatra said that 'I believe that the bond that developed between Barack Obama and PM Modi after that conversation was based on that honesty.'
