If a film director produces a completely opposite polar films, his cinema suddenly gets a representation of three generations. For example, Yash Chopra made a ‘wall’. ‘Dil to Pagal Hai’ made and made ‘Veer Zara’. This film is two Yash Chopra of Making. Similarly, there are two experiences of Hindi cinema Sinha. Those who directed the music video of ‘Tum Bin’, ‘Ra-One’ and Sonu Nigam. Other experiences are ‘Mulk’, ‘Article 15’ and ‘Slaps’. Producer-director Anubhav Sinha, who is going to start his next film in these summer, was exclusively conversed by Pankaj Shukla, advisory editor of ‘Amar Ujala’.

If you are introduced as a producer-director, then you complain why you are not introduced as a writer. You will tell when did you start writing?

The full credit for my becoming a writer goes to actor and writer Saurabh Shukla. My first TV series ‘Shikstam’ Main and Saurabh were writing together. Then Tigmanshu Dhulia gave him a character in his series. When he was an important character, Saurabh went to do him. I did not write a story for any newspaper or magazine before that. There was a help of one or two big writers, but this problem came to light, so I thought that we have become very big that instead of teaching to swim, he picked up and threw it directly into the pond and threw it to learn. Started writing just the same in mind. I have been writing continuously since then. Counting since 1993, it has been 32 years.

And, you also wrote the film ‘Mulk’, which discovered the after -reveal Sinha of ‘Ra One’? Where did its idea come from?

I have not been able to find out this film by thinking something special or inspired by a particular moment. Many times I rewind this whole incident and also played. But, yes, it is known that it was not easy to bear the disdain, the disdain that happened after ‘Ra One’. I am alone in this city, now I have become one or two friends, whom I can call and talk but it was not that. I used to think that my contempt is not right, I can do better than this. And, in the meantime this story came to mind and this story made me this film.

Have you read a book or any incident in front of you?

There was an incident, perhaps I had studied in a newspaper that a father refused to take the body of his son. From there you can consider its trigger point. If you watch my films of the last decade, then the stories of most of my films have come from newspapers. And, when ‘Mulk’ was released, people started talking about its author-director who was me. There I found myself and I felt that my cinema was in the voice coming from within me. After that whatever films I think or write, they are the ones who come from inside, there is no reason for the market.

People recognize Anubhav Sinha’s cinema separately, like Bhansali’s cinema. Are you Mutamin with this identity?

I believe that the identity made from cinema is the biggest identity of the director. But, this identity is my last identity, I am not a loved one about it. I don’t know I see myself changing every day. I am watching growing I am watching a lot of cinema these days. I am reading all the books and this is all the way I am changing every day. I am watching what I have shot in 1890, from there to the recent Oscar. I am eager to know more and more.
