P Harish said that ‘India has been a land of diversity and pluralism, where people of every major religion of the world live. India has been the birthplace of four major religions in the world, including Sanatan Dharma, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikh religion. Around 200 million Muslims live in India and it is one of the largest Muslim population countries in the world. He said that we condemn religious discrimination against Muslims and are with the United Nations countries in this matter, but it is also necessary to assume that religious discrimination is a big challenge and it affects people who believe in all religions in the world.
P Harish said during his address that Holi and Ramadan are being celebrated together in India and they also wished both festivals. P Harish said that ‘India also expressed concern over the incidents of attack on places of worship and said that they can be avoided only when all member countries give equal respect to all religions and do not discriminate between people of different religions. Also, conservatism and fundamentalism should not be given a place in the education system. Significantly, the Group of Islamic countries, Organization of Islamic Corporation, proposed a proposal against Islamophobia. In which there has been a demand to celebrate the ‘International Day of Fighting of Islamophobia’ in the direction of fighting Islamophobia. The proposal states that terrorism and fundamentalism should not be associated with any religion, nationality or ethnic group.
