West Bengal: One of Prime Accused In Murder of Father-Son in Riot-Hit Murshidabad Held-Amar Ujala Hindi News Live

One of the main accused of killing a man and his son in West Bengal’s violence affected Murshidabad district has been arrested. A senior official said on Sunday that this is the fourth arrest in the murder of two people in Jafarabad in Shamsherganj. The arrested person has been identified as Ziaul Sheikh, a resident of Purbapara, a neighboring village of Jafarabad. He was absconding since the crime incident on 12 April.

Police has enough evidence

He said that Sheikh was arrested by the West Bengal Police’s Special Work Force (STF) and Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Saturday from his hideout in Chopra in North Dinajpur district. “This person is one of the main accused, who on April 12, ransacked the deceased’s house and hatched the crowd to kill Hargobindo Das, his son Chandan Das,” the official said. He said that the police have all the evidence, CCTV footage and its mobile phone tower location to prove his presence at the crime site on 12 April.

More than 100 FIRs, 276 people arrested

Earlier, the police arrested two brothers Kalu Nadar and Dildar and Inzamam -ul -Haq for involvement in the murder of both. Kalu was arrested from Murarai in Birbhum district, his brother Dildar was arrested from Bangladesh border area under the jurisdiction of Sati police station. The third accused was arrested from Suripara, a neighboring village in Zafarabad. The official said that we have registered more than 100 FIRs in Murshidabad violence cases. We have so far arrested 276 people in these cases. At least three people were killed in the violence during the recent protests over amending the Waqf Act.
