Prime Minister Narendra Modi was officially welcomed at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Nicosia, Cyprus. Prime Minister Modi is on an official visit of a two -day Cyprus on an invitation to the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nicos Christodaulides. This is an Indian Prime Minister’s first visit to Cyprus in two decades. Here Prime Minister Modi interacted with President Christodaulids in Nicosia. The journey shows the shared commitment of the two countries to strengthen bilateral relations, pursue India’s relations with the Mediterranean region and the European Union.

After a meeting with the President of Cyprus, Prime Minister Modi said that we expressed concern over the ongoing struggles in West Asia and Europe. We believe that this is not the era of war. The Prime Minister thanked Cyprus for supporting India’s permanent membership in the Security Council. He said that this year the India-Spirus-Gris partnership has been started. India-West Asia-Europe Economic Corridor will pave the way for peace and prosperity in the region.
At the same time, Cyprus President Nicos Christodolidase said that we discussed increasing our bilateral relations and coordination in various fields. We want to work on defense cooperation, crisis management, tourism, innovation and artificial intelligence. We agreed to work together so that we could give concrete results.
