Braving petrol bombs, how Sri Lanka army rescued Mahinda Rajapaksa from a mob

Outgoing Sri Lankan PM Mahinda Rajapaksa had to be rescued by armed troops from his residence in Colombo. Thousands of protesters stormed the main gates of Mahinda Rajapaksa’s official residence. Protesters tried to force their way into ‘Temple Trees’ that serves as Rajapaksa’s house. The two-storey colonial-era building was where Mahinda’s family and he were sheltering. Police fired tear gas and warning shots in the air to hold back mobs as security forces moved Mahinda Rajapaksa and his family out of ‘Temple Trees’. Watch the full video for more.
