Chief Justice of India Justice BR Gavai reached Itanagar, the capital of Arunachal Pradesh on a two -day visit on Saturday. Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju and State Law, Legislative and Justice Minister Kento Jini were present to welcome him. According to officials, senior Raj Bhavan officer Pawan Kumar Sain welcomed Justice Gawai on behalf of Governor Lieutenant General KT Parnaq. The Governor is currently on an official tour outside the state.
On reaching Itanagar, Chief Minister Pema Khandu welcomed the Chief Justice by presenting the traditional ‘Khada’. On reaching Raj Bhavan, he was given a formal guard of honor by Arunachal Pradesh Police. Senior administrative officers and officers associated with the judiciary were also present on the occasion.

Preparations for the inauguration program
Chief Justice BR Gavai will inaugurate the new building of the Itanagar bench of the Guwahati High Court in Naharlagun on Sunday. Chief Justice of Guwahati High Court Justice Ashutosh Kumar will also be present on the occasion. According to officials, five court rooms have been built in this state -of -the -art building, as well as modern facilities for judges and lawyers have been provided.

The new building of the Itanagar bench will not only make judicial functioning easier but will also strengthen the judicial infrastructure. This includes adequate seating arrangements, libraries for legal research, digital hearing facilities and better security arrangements.
