Police has started the second phase of search and rescue operations in disaster -hit Dharali. For this, IG SDRF Arun Mohan Joshi has been made the Inspector Commander and Commandant SDRF Arpan Yaduvanshi as Deputy Commander. 1273 people stranded in Dharali have been evacuated so far. Now missing people will be searched.

DGP Deepam Seth has instructed to do more and more techniques and human resources on ground zero to do search and rescue operations. He held a meeting with officials at the police headquarters on Sunday in this regard. In the meeting, the DGP first inquired about the campaign from ADG law and order, IG PAC, IG SDRF, Telecom, Fire etc. He praised the work of evacuating the trapped people, coordinating with other agencies and departments present there. Next, he discussed the action plan of the second phase. In this phase, instructions were given to make special focus on search and rescue operations.

He directed that the ground zero should be divided into the sector with departments and officials like DM, SP, Army, ITBP and NDRF etc. A concrete strategy should be made by distributing responsibilities to the officers in different sectors. Instructions were given to deploy adequate number of SDRF, Fire Service and PAC there. Apart from this, the DGP said to prepare a list of those who are missing. He directed to seek the cooperation of local people and panchayat representatives for this work.

The site was asked to use modern techniques there after red flaging the scene. The DGP asked to intensify the search campaign using technical and human resource capacity like drone, thermal imaging cameras, Victim locked cameras and dog squads. At the same time, the police were also instructed to ensure real time reporting of every activity by staying on 24 -hour alert mode so that quick decisions can be taken in any need or emergency.

The irrigation department is preparing to manual the drainage of water from the artificial lake built in Harshil. Irrigation Department officials and workers will go to Harshil today through the helicopter. The officers have also been instructed to camp there. At the same time, UJVNL team has also reached Harshil to do drainage work on the lake.
