Haqqani, America’s ‘most wanted’, shielded Zawahiri in Kabul safe house? |Report

As per a New York Times report, the Haqqani network tried to conceal that Al-Qaeda leader Ayman Al-Zawahiri was at a Kabul safe house where he was killed in a U.S. strike. According to the report, U.S. officials found that the safe house was owned by an aide to Sirajuddin Haqqani, now the Interior Minister in the Taliban government in Afghanistan. Earlier the U.S. officials believed Zawahiri to be in Pakistan. His killing in a safe house linked to Haqqani-Taliban has put the Taliban government under scrutiny. As per Doha agreement, the Taliban had committed not to provide safe haven for Al Qaeda. Now, the U.S. has slammed Taliban’s ‘gross violation’ but it is unclear what action, if any, the U.S. will take. Watch this video for more details.
