Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday attended the second day of Semcon India 2025 at Yashobhumi (India International Convention and Expo Center) in Delhi. During this time he interacted with experts from the semiconductor sector and looked at the projects and products made of technology closely.
On Tuesday, PM Modi inaugurated the conference and said that the world rely on India and wants to make the future of the semiconductor with India. On this occasion, he described Chips as the “digital diamond” of the 21st century.
Investment of 1.5 lakh crores will strengthen the sector
The Prime Minister said that the global semiconductor market has already been $ 600 billion and it will cross $ 1 trillion in the coming years. He believes that India will have a large part of this 1 trillion market in the pace with which India is moving forward.
The PM reminded that the Semicon India program started in 2021. India’s first semiconductor plant was approved by 2023, several more plants were approved in 2024 and 5 new projects were also approved in 2025. Currently, work is going on on 10 semiconductor projects in the country, in which more than Rs 18 billion, or Rs 1.5 lakh crore is being invested.
The Prime Minister said that this is a proof of increasing global belief in India. Describing the importance of speed in this area, he said, “The shorter the time from file to the factory and the reduced paperwork, chip production will start as fast as.”
Rules became easy for investors
He informed that the government is working on this approach. For this, the National Single Window System has been implemented, which gives investors all the approval of the Center and the states on the same platform. Due to this, industrialists have got rid of paper mess.
Semiconductor parks developing across the country
PM Modi also informed that semiconductor parks are being developed across the country. These parks being prepared on plug-end-play models will have facilities such as land, electricity, port and airport connectivity, as well as easy access to skilled workforce.
He said that when strong infrastructure is linked to policies such as pli incentive and design-linked grants, industrial development occurs naturally. This is the reason why foreign investment is constantly coming to India and the country is moving towards becoming a semiconductor manufacturing hub.
