A sensational incident in Sangd police station area of Fatehgarh subdivision area of Jaisalmer district shocked the entire area late on Tuesday night. Khet Singh, a farmer from Dangri village, was brutally murdered when he was sleeping in his field. Preliminary investigation and statements of family members have revealed that the murder was done due to opposition to the poaching of deer.
Attack of miscreants while sleeping in the field
According to the villagers, the farmer Khet Singh went to spend the night in his field like everyday. At midnight, some miscreants from the village reached there and stabbed him with a sharp weapon. The seriousness of the attack was so much that the farm lions could not get up and continued to suffer in a blood -soaked condition. In the morning, when the farmers arrived to work in the fields, they saw them seriously injured and immediately informed the police and family members. He was first taken to Fatehgarh Hospital, but was referred to Barmer when the condition was critical. He died during treatment there.
Ten days old rivalry became the reason
The deceased’s brother Swaroop Singh told the police that the incident is the result of the dispute about ten days ago. Alam Khan and Ladu Khan of the village came to hunt deer at that time with guns. Khet Singh opposed it and tried to stop. During that time there was a sharp debate and the accused had threatened on the go that Khet Singh would have to bear the consequences. Family members believe that Tuesday night attack is the result of the same threat.
Tension and arson in the village after murder
As the news of the farmer’s death spread throughout the area, anger erupted. By evening, there was a tension situation in Dangri village. Meanwhile, the angry mob set fire to a particular community shop. Seeing the situation uncontrollable, the police administration sent additional Jabta to the spot. Jaisalmer SP Abhishek Shivhare said that a police force has been deployed in the village to maintain peace and law and order in the village and the situation is constantly being monitored.
The main accused in custodyA absconding
The police, showing readiness, have taken the main accused Ladu Khan and Alam Khan into custody. Also, the vehicle used in the incident has also been seized. Another accused is being searched.
SP Abhishek Shivhare said that the primary reason for the murder is believed to be opposition to deer hunting. The culprits will not be spared under any circumstances and the entire matter is being investigated intense.
Weeds among family and villagers
A large number of villagers and family members gathered outside the Morchari of Barmer Hospital. Everyone’s anger and sorrow were visible. Villagers said that Khet Singh was a hardworking and calm person who had no personal enmity with anyone. He always stood to protect the forest and wildlife and that is why he lost his life.
