Chhindwara Collector Shilendra Singh said that children were getting cold cough in various areas including Parasia. Such cases increased in the months of August and September. The children were taken to the hospital for treatment. The treatment of children started there. In the last week of August, the health of some children worsened. This happened when children were given medicines to prevent cough, fever and cold.

According to CMHO Dr. Naresh Gunnade, the number of such cases increased on August 24-25. In the first week of September, the health of the children started deteriorating and a child died. According to the administration, the fever of children was not getting reduced and they were having trouble in urination. The administration took water samples from different areas and sent them to Pune for investigation. When the death toll of children started increasing, teams from Delhi and Bhopal reached Chhindwara. Water samples were taken from different areas. But no bacteria or virus were confirmed. After this, some children were admitted to Nagpur. Four children died there. After this, the kidney boyopsy of these children was done. It was revealed that the diamethylene glycol in the syrup is poor.

The CMHO said that after the meeting of all the teams, it was found that some medicines can also have a wrong effect on children, due to which the sale of cold -cuff syrup has been banned. He informed that a separate ward has been built in Parasia. So far six children have died. The reason for this is the kidney failure. Teams from health departments have come from the Center and the state which are investigating. Their report is yet to come. CMHO said that there is no epidemic here. Blood samples of children have been taken, which have been sent to the Virology Institute in Pune. Water samples have also been taken from the villages. So far, about 3 thousand blood samples have been taken.

According to family members, Nitians had a complaint of cough for several days. Her mother Khushi took her to the nearest Chirana CHC, where she was given a syrup to treat cough. The drug was fed to the child at around 11:30 pm. At around 3:30 pm, the child began to hire. The mother gave water, but the child did not wake up till morning. The family then took him to Sikar’s hospital, where he was declared dead.

Drug controller Ajay Phatak said that the health of some children deteriorated in Bharatpur and Sikar, after which samples of medicine have been taken. Syrup supply stopped

Drug controller Ajay Phatak said that samples have been sent to laboratory for investigation. Something can be said only after the report comes. Dextromethorphon hydrobromide syrup was being given to children. It was supplied by the local pharma company of Jaipur, Kaysnes Pharma. Its manufacturing unit Sarna Dungar is located in the industrial area. Rajasthan Medical Service Corporation Limited has stopped the supply of syrup of this company in all hospitals.

RMSCL Executive Director and Principal Jai Singh said that two batch of this drug is currently being tested, but the supply of all the batch has been fully held.
