On the basis of Deepti Sharma’s all -round performance, the Indian women’s team defeated Sri Lanka by 59 runs in the first match of the ODI World Cup by 59 runs. India, batting first, scored 269 for eight wickets in 47 overs with the help of half -centuries by Deepti and Amanjot Kaur. In response, Sri Lanka’s team was all out for 211 runs in 45.4 overs. Deepti also performed strongly with the ball after the bat and took three wickets.
