Madhya Pradesh Cough Syrup Case: In Madhya Pradesh, the series of deaths of children due to cough syrup is not stopping. Three more innocent people died in the last 24 hours. Now the death toll has reached 20. 17 children have died in Chhindwara, one in Pandhurna and two in Betul. Five children are still fighting the battle between life and death in Nagpur. Now the owner of the company manufacturing Coldrif will be arrested. Two teams have reached Chennai and Kachipuram to nab him.
Madhya Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister Rajendra Shukla said that so far 20 children have lost their lives in this unfortunate incident including Chhindwara, Pandhurna and Betul. The government is very strict. Chhindwara Police team has reached Chennai and Kachipuram to arrest the accused company, Honor of Coldrif manufacturing company. When INS went on strike, Shukla said that they should not go on strike, do their work. It is requested to follow the advisory of Government of India and ICMRC not to give cough syrup to children below four years of age. Shukla said that I had gone to Nagpur yesterday. Five children are admitted there. Met the family there and saw the children. Everyone is making every possible effort to save the children.

Three children died in the last 24 hours
Let us inform that during treatment in various hospitals of Nagpur, Dhani Dehariya (one and a half years) of Tamiya, Jyanshu Yaduvanshi (2 years) of Junnardev and Vedansh Pawar (2 and a half years) of Ridhora have died. After these deaths, the total number of deaths in Chhindwara district has reached 17. One life has already been lost in Pandhurna also. Two children have also died in Betul. Even now five children are struggling between life and death in the hospitals of Nagpur.
Health deteriorated after drinking syrup, investigation revealed major negligence
Investigation has revealed that some private doctors, prominent among whom is Dr. Praveen Soni, had given ‘Coldrif Syrup’ to the children. Within a few hours of drinking the syrup, the kidneys of the children started getting affected and the condition continued to worsen. Medical examination has confirmed the presence of poisonous chemical elements in this syrup, which were damaging the kidneys after reaching the body. Due to this, many children died due to kidney failure.

Administration tightened its grip: Medical store sealed, syrup seized
As the number of deaths increased, the Chhindwara district administration intensified action. Additional Collector Dhirendra Singh had officially confirmed 16 deaths so far, while after Vedansh’s death the figure has reached 17. He said that this is a serious health disaster, efforts are being made at every level to stop it. The administration has sealed five medical stores and samples of the suspected syrup have been sent for lab testing. Apart from this, announcements are being made in every village so that people do not give any kind of cough syrup to children.
Politics also heated up: Congress asked for compensation
Now political rhetoric has also started on this tragedy. Congress has demanded a compensation of Rs 1 crore each for the victims’ families and accused the government of negligence. At the same time, BJP has said that the investigation is being conducted with complete transparency and the culprits will not be spared under any circumstances.

Silence due to death of innocent people, mourning in homes
There is an atmosphere of mourning and fear in many villages of Chhindwara district. Where once there was laughter of children, there is now silence and tears in the eyes. The families of the children admitted in Nagpur are staying day and night in the hospitals.
Inquiry committee formed, report awaited
The administration has constituted a special committee for a high-level investigation of the incident. The committee will find out how the poisonous syrup reached the market, what level of negligence took place and who is guilty. Drug inspection teams have also been instructed to quickly submit the drug testing reports of all the medical stores in the district.
