Sixth arrest in the case: Victim’s friend arrested
Meanwhile, amidst the increasing demand for justice in the case of rape of a student in Durgapur, the police has taken major action. Under this, the police has arrested the victim’s friend. This is the sixth arrest so far in this case. According to Asansol-Durgapur Police Commissionerate, the role of the accused was found suspicious, due to which he was detained. According to the police, in the CCTV footage, the accused was seen leaving the college with the victim at 7:58 pm and then returning alone at 8:42 pm. After this both were seen returning together at 9:29 pm.
Father had expressed doubt on daughter’s friend
The victim’s father had already alleged that his daughter’s friend might be involved in the crime in some way or the other. He had said that I am sure that all this was planned in advance. His friend may be part of this conspiracy.
What action has been taken so far in the matter?
In the matter, Commissioner Sunil Kumar Choudhary further said that till now the police has gone to the spot of the incident and tried to understand the entire incident again and has collected technical and scientific evidence. He said that the forensic team has also collected necessary evidence from the spot, the accused have been examined by a doctor and their clothes have also been confiscated. During this, Choudhary also told that although some important reports have not come yet.
According to the Commissioner, on the basis of technical and scientific evidence and the statement of the victim, it has come to light that one of the accused had forced her to have physical relations. The role of the remaining people is under investigation. He also said that the role of the victim’s friend, who was present at the spot at the time of the incident, is also not completely clear. He was called for questioning several times and now he has been arrested on the basis of suspicion.

When a student from Odisha studying in a private medical college in Durgapur had gone out to eat with a friend. Meanwhile, when she was returning, the accused raped her. At present the victim is undergoing treatment in a nearby hospital.
