Chinese spy ship threat to Indian security? ‘Won’t allow misuse’, says Sri Lanka

As the Chinese vessel Yuan Wang 5 reaches Hambantota port following a week of diplomatic showdown, Sri Lankan president has assured that the country will not allow China to use the port for military purposes. Both India and U.S have expressed concerns over the Chinese tracking vessel which is known as a spy ship. Sri Lanka, at first requested Beijing to defer the arrival of the ship. Later, upon pressure from China, Colombo allowed the ship to arrive at its port. China earlier slammed apprehensions of India & U.S concerns as ‘unjustified’ and urged against ‘disturbing normal exchanges’ between Sri Lanka and China. In return, New Delhi rejected China’s insinuations that Sri Lanka was being pressured.
