Finland’s nod for NATO membership provokes Russia; Moscow calls move ‘hostile’

Finland has decided to apply for NATO membership amid concerns of Russia’s territorial ambitions. Finland’s foreign minister confirmed the move to the European Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee. The decision comes amid a surge of support from Finnish citizens for NATO membership. Finland shares a 1,340km land border with Russia, one of the European Union’s longest external borders. This means if Finland joins NATO, it would add a further 1,300 kilometers for Moscow to defend. Watch the full video for more.
