The US says it conducted two rounds of air strikes in eastern Syria in one day against militant groups affiliated to Iran. The US called it a retaliation against the rocket attack on its bases which injured three U.S personnel on Wednesday. U.S military called the latest air raids a ‘clear message to Iranian-backed groups attempting to harm Americans based in Syria that their actions must stop’. The U.S. has stationed troops in Syria to fight ISIS and provide humanitarian assistance to the country but have sporadically clashed with Iran-backed militias.
