Covid created a billionaire every 30 hours, says Oxfam at Davos

Shocking report on growing economic divide across the world presented at the World Economic Forum in Davos. As per the rights body Oxfam, the Covid pandemic has created a new billionaire every 30 hours and now one million people could fall into extreme poverty at the same pace. The report states that the billionaires in food & energy sectors increasing their fortunes by $1 billion every 2 days as prices of essential goods are growing much faster post Covid outbreak. Oxfam appealed all the countries at Davos summit to introduce one-off solidarity taxes on billionaires’ pandemic profits to help support the poor.
