Mumbai: A 52-year-old medical supplier was reportedly killed after a fight with a man over spitting at Kumbharkhan Pada in Dombivli on Saturday.
Vishnu Nagar police have arrested a 19-year-old daily wage worker, identified as Kaif Javed Khan, on charges of murder. The accused is a resident of RK complex in Mumbra.
The deceased, identified as Vijay Patwa, lived with his wife and two children at Saiprasad Building at Navapada in Dombivli west.
According to the police, the incident took place at about 1 pm on Saturday. Patwa was riding his motorbike when the accused spit on the road. Following this, Patwa accused Khan of spitting on him and abusing him. This led to a heated argument between the duo and they physically assaulted each other.

Rahul Khilare, inspector, Vishnu Nagar police station, said, “Locals alerted us and we took Patwa to Shastri Nagar hospital in Dombivli, where he was declared dead before admission. Meanwhile, the accused had fled from the spot. With the help of eyewitnesses, we arrested the accused from the same locality.”
Khilare added that a case was registered against Khan and he was produced in a court, which remanded him to police custody for two days.
“We have alerted the forensic medical team to examine the cause of death. As of now, no provisional post-mortem report has come,” the police inspector said.
