Four workers were injured when a lift of a car park collapsed at Kalyan’s Ahilyabai Chowk on Monday evening.
The incident occurred while repair work was being carried out and the car parking lift of a 23-storey Punyoday Sky at Manik Colony was being tested, Bazarpeth police officers said.
Soon after the incident, local police officers and a team from the fire brigade department of Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) rushed to the spot. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital. Bazarpeth police have initiated an inquiry on the same.
“There was a loud sound when the lift collapsed following which the security guard and locals rushed to the lift. The building has a four-storey car parking facility. We will check the cause of the collapse and take needful action accordingly. Those who were injured are undergoing treatment and are recovering,” said an officer of Bazarpeth police station.
