The number of active Covid cases in the twin cities has reached around 80 from less than 20 till the last week of May: the daily positive cases recorded in Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation is now above 10; KDMC has appealed to citizens to take booster dose

The Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) health department has appealed to the citizens to take their booster doses following a slight increase in the number of Covid cases.

The number of active cases in the twin cities has reached around 80 from less than 20 till the last week of May. The daily positive cases recorded in KDMC are now above 10. KDMC has also kept two of its Covid centres ready in case of an increase in the cases in the coming days.

“The daily Covid cases have increased a bit compared to last month. Now, we need to make sure those who have taken both their doses should take the booster dose without delay. This will help in case there is a sudden major spike in cases. We are appealing to the senior citizens as well as the young citizens to take their booster dose,” said Dr Pratibha Panpatil, epidemic officer, KDMC.

On May 26, the KDMC recorded five cases while on June 6, it recorded 14 cases. The active cases, which were 12, have increased to 79 as on June 6.

“In the coming days, if the cases increase, we have kept the Savlaram Covid Care facility in Dombivli and Sai Nirvana Covid Care Centre in Kalyan (E) ready. Those who are infected have very mild symptoms and 90% of them are in home isolation,” said Panpatil.

On an average a total of 150-200 testing is being carried out by KDMC as of now.

In KDMC only, around 5% of those who have taken both their doses have taken their booster dose. In total, 53,523 citizens have taken their booster dose so far. Out of the 13.59 lakh targeted population, 11.28 lakh have taken the first dose and 10.79 lakh have taken the second dose.
