Zurich airport said take-offs and landings had been stopped and the airport in Geneva said air traffic will not resume before 11 am local time (9 am GMT, 1.30 pm IST).
Problems with the air traffic control system have halted take-offs and landings at at least two major Switzerland airports, news agency Reuters said Wednesday morning. Citing Swiss air navigation service provider Skyguide, Reuters said a technical malfunction led to Swiss airspace being closed for safety reasons.
“This airspace closure is in effect until further notice,” Skyguide said.
