Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has formally apologized for the Israeli attack on 9 September in Doha to Qatar’s Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman bin Jasim Al Thani. The conversation took place through a phone call from the White House, where the Israeli PM is currently present as a guest of US President Donald Trump. According to an American channel report, the phone call lasted for a few minutes and it also included President Donald Trump. A foreign diplomat confirmed that Netanyahu clearly apologized in this conversation and described the incident as ‘violation of Qatar’s sovereignty’.
What happened on 9 September?
On 9 September, Israel launched an aerial attack in Doha, the capital of Qatar. There were many big leaders of Hamas, but they escaped. A security guard of Qatar and some lower level members of Hamas were killed in this attack. After this incident, Qatar became very angry and refused to mediate in a conversation with Hamas.
Importance of Gaza war and Israel’s apology
According to the report, this apology is the main part of the agreement to end the Gaza war and release the release of all hostages. This dialogue was not able to move forward without Qatar’s mediation. Now the conversation is expected to be accelerated after Qatar’s displeasure is removed. Some media reports claimed that Israel is also considering compensation to the family of Qatar security guard.
America’s role and Qatar’s stance
According to the report, Qatar has indicated to the US that he may persuade Hamas to accept the complete disarmament of the Gaza Strip. This would mean that Hamas will leave his heavy weapons and missiles. If this agreement is reached, it will be considered a big success towards ending the long -running struggle in Gaza.
