The Congress again attacked the Election Commission on Tuesday, saying that the need to revise the voter list to remove non -citizens from the voter list, but the Election Commission does not have the courage to tell the countrymen how many non -citizens in Bihar were removed from the voter list. Congress General Secretary and party’s communication in -charge Jairam Ramesh alleged that there is a lack of equality and transparency in the SIR process.
Jairam Ramesh made serious allegations against Election Commission
Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said that if the Election Commission had informed how many non-citizens in Bihar were removed from the voter list, then its pole would have opened even more. Jairam Ramesh said that the hearing in the Supreme Court on Bihar Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is starting again from Tuesday. He also shared a picture of an article published in a newspaper in a social media post, analyzing the SIR process. The analysis has claimed that the intervention of the Supreme Court has reduced the possibility of large -scale people being deprived of his franchise, but the entire process of SIR still has much more to be done on accuracy, equality, transparency and fairness.
Bihar election dates announced
The opposition is sharply opposing the SIR process in Bihar. The opposition accused the Election Commission of acting at the behest of the ruling BJP. However, the Election Commission rejected the opposition’s claim outright. The Commission made it clear that no eligible citizen will be allowed to stay out of the voter list and no ineligible person will be allowed to join the voter list. The Election Commission announced the dates of assembly elections in Bihar on Monday. Under this announcement, voting for Bihar assembly elections will be held in two phases on November 6 and 11 and counting will be held on 14 November.
