Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday gave a big gift to the farmers of the country. The Prime Minister launched two important schemes worth about Rs 35,440 crore for the agriculture sector. In this, ‘Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana’ worth about Rs 24 thousand crore was also started. PM Modi participated in the special agricultural scheme at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute in New Delhi. In the program, PM Modi paid tribute to JP on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Loknayak Jayaprakash.

Prime Minister’s gift of thousands of crores to the agriculture sector

Under the Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana, the government has set a target to increase agricultural production in 100 districts of the country, provide loans to farmers, improve irrigation and crop diversification and crop management. PM Modi also launched a six-year mission plan to make the country self-reliant in pulses. This scheme is worth Rs 11,440 crore. Agriculture Infrastructure Fund Scheme has been launched at a cost of about Rs 3,650 crore. About Rs 1166 crore has also been released for 17 different projects for animal husbandry.

Focus also on fisheries scheme and food processing industry

PM Modi has also approved about Rs 693 crore for fisheries scheme. About Rs 800 crore will be spent to promote the food processing industry. The government is also running a scheme to popularize natural farming among farmers. Before participating in the special agriculture program, PM Modi met various farmers and discussed with them the challenges of the agriculture sector and the positive changes taking place in this sector.

‘Previous governments left the farmers to fend for themselves’

In his address after the launch of agricultural schemes, PM Modi said, ‘Today, October 11, is a very historic day. Today is the birth anniversary of two great gems of Mother India who created history. Bharat Ratna Jayaprakash Narayan and Bharat Ratna Nanaji Deshmukh, both these great sons, were the voices of rural India, the pioneers of the democratic revolution. He was dedicated to the welfare of farmers and the poor. Today on this historic day, two important new schemes are being launched for the self-reliance of the country and the welfare of the farmers.

He said, ‘Farming and farming have always been an important part of our development journey. It is important that the government continues to support agriculture and farming with the changing times. Unfortunately, previous governments left agriculture to fend for itself. The government lacked any foresight or vision for agriculture, due to which India’s agricultural system continued to weaken. We have changed the careless attitude of previous governments towards agriculture.

PM Modi said, ‘Today the Pulses Self-Reliance Mission has also been launched. This is not just a mission to increase pulses production but also a mission to empower our future generations. In recent years, Indian farmers have achieved record food grain production. Today the country imports pulses in large quantities, hence the Pulses Self-Reliance Mission is necessary.
