The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has busted an international drug cartel by arresting a 53-year-old Goan and his 19-year-old daughter, and seizing various kinds of banned substances from them. The agency said the man, identified as J Lee, is a British national based in Mapusa, while his daughter Ambika is a Russian national.
NCB officials said the seized narcotic substances include 107 MDMA tablets, 40 grams of high grade mephedrone and 55 grams of high-quality hashish. Besides, the agency has also seized ₹4.50 lakh in cash from the British national.
Lee is said to have procured the drugs from a distributor connected to an international syndicate and delivered the narcotic substances to his daughter, who later supplied it to high profile people in Goa’s rave parties, the officials said.
An NCB official from Goa’s sub-zonal unit had received input that a drug syndicate was being operated by foreigners in North Goa. After a probe, the agency learnt that a Russian woman was part of the syndicate and she was operating in association with another key associate, a British national.

A team then laid a trap and apprehended Ambika, allegedly with a consignment of ecstasy pills which she was going to distribute near Uddo Beach, Siolim in North Goa. After her search yielded to the recovery of 50 pills, she was taken into custody for further investigation, NCB zonal director Amit Ghawate said.
During further interrogation, Ambika revealed the name of her father, who is based in Mapusa, as the source of the material. A team from NCB then nabbed Lee in a late-night operation on Saturday, and recovered 57 ecstasy pills, 40 grams MD (mephedrone), 55 grams of hashish and the cash, Ghawate said.
The probe also revealed that the duo has been staying in Goa for a long time.
