China voiced strong condemnation over US approval of a $120 million sale of naval equipment to Taiwan. The US has approved a possible $120 million sale of parts to help Taiwan maintain its warship. China vowed ‘resolute and strong measures to defend its own sovereignty and security interests’. “The arm sale by the United States to China’s Taiwan region seriously violates the one-China principle and the provisions of the three Sino-US joint communiques, especially the August 17 communique. It seriously damages China’s sovereignty and security interests, and seriously damages China-US relations and peace and stability of the Taiwan Strait.
