Maharashtra reported 2,946 fresh coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, of which 1,803 cases were from Mumbai alone. The state also witnessed two new Covid-linked fatalities on Sunday – both the deaths were reported from Mumbai.
The number of active cases rose to over 16,000 as per the state’s health department. On Saturday, the Maharashtra logged 2,922 cases and one death.
A total of 1,432 patients recovered from the coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative number of recoveries in Maharashtra to 77,46,337. The recovery rate in the state is 97.92 per cent.
As many as 42,922 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours as per the official figures, taking the number of samples conducted so far in the state to 8,13,21,768.
